What is your Marketing Strategy for Canada Day?
There are over 100 effective ways to market your small business. Holidays and noteworthy events are a great time to stay in touch, or as we call it in Marketing, drip on customers and prospects. This year my strategy includes a newsletter and blog entry. If you’ve missed the opportunity, then be sure to mark the next public holidays and noteworthy events on your marketing calendar and make a note to implement a marketing strategy for Canada Day next year.
The History of Canada Day
Many communities host Canada Day events and set off fireworks. It’s a great time for family and friends to get together for a BBQ or go camping.
The Americans separated from British rule in 1768 and celebrate Independence Day on July 4th. Canada, 100 years later, in 1868, separated to create the “Dominion of Canada”. Frequently referred to as “Canada’s birthday“, the occasion marks the joining of the British colonies into a federation of four provinces on July 1, 1867.
Canada Day differs from Independence Day in that it does not commemorate a clear-cut date of complete independence from Britain.
