I received a call earlier from a client that informed me that Talk 1410 is off the air and their employees have been laid off.   We had scheduled some advertising for the upcoming Life-Changing Workshop and were informed of the change.   Some call this a conspiracy to keep talk-shows off the air for the upcoming Vancouver 2010 Olympics.    It’s definitely a shame to see talk-radio disappear.

According to 24 Hours, Employees at Talk 1410 have been laid off Thursday as the radio station gears up for a re-brand later this month.

Employees learned today that CHUM has decided to turn the all-talk radio station into a sports-only program under the name “Team 1410.”

New programming is already on the air, but the full re-brand is expected to take effect as early as next week.

The new direction is part of a widespread financial restructuring of the four CHUM stations in Vancouver, which also include Team 1040, The Beat 94.5 and 103.5 QM/FM.
