Do You Have Marketing Muscles?
by Kelowna Marketing Consultant and Small Business Coach Larry Arrance
Jim Rohn said, “You can’t pay someone else to do your pushups.” Yet, I have clients that try to do just that.
Part of being a Marketing Coach is to help the client to be a better marketer. I don’t want them to be tethered to me dependent upon my making their marketing work for them. It is critical as a business owner that you build your basic marketing muscles so that you can handle the bulk of your own marketing activities.
Does this mean that you have to become exceptional in every aspect of marketing? No and it is unlikely that you would find anyone, even the gurus, who excel at every marketing channel or activity available. That being said, you should understand the basics so that you can recognize your strengths and weaknesses. Keep building your strengths and hire qualified people for your weak areas.
What are some of the basics you should educate yourself on; copywriting, writing a marketing plan, article marketing, creating an effective website, email marketing, blogging and networking. Some might add SEO into the mix but I would recommend you get a good grasp of the others first.
What I want to accomplish with my coaching clients is that they feel confident at the end of our time together that they can keep their marketing strategies moving forward on their own. By continually building your marketing muscles you’ll see all of your business grow.
