How do you get Website Traffic?

Now that’s the #1 challenge for business.  With hundreds and thousands of competitors on the internet, getting found on google can be tough…

“We Found You On Google”

…are the magic words any business owner wants to hear.   But it’s not that easy.  There is all this techno babble… SEO, Search Engine Optimization, Keyword Meta Tags, Social media, etc.   Then there are hefty fees, get rich quick schemes, ridiculous guarantees, and quite frankly alot of scams.   The fact is that Getting Found On Google is foreign to many business owners and many so called Internet Experts take advantage.

One common theme I seem to come across is the misconception of what Marketing is…

I’m not entirely surprised.  Marketing has always been somewhat of a mystery to most small business owners.  TV ruined marketing when commercials were invited and the corporate world with its deep pocket and huge advertising budget has misguided many into thinking that this is Marketing.  Well it’s not!

What Marketing is not…

Or do they?  Don’t get me wrong, these statistics are eye opening and breath-taking but then again is social media too broad of a medium?   For example social media is the #1 activity on the internet.  That’s a great stat but breathing is a #1 activity too, essential I might add, but you don’t see breathing seminars selling out.  (In case you haven’t taken a lesson on proper breathing, I encourage you to!)

In my books social media is only as good of a marketing tactic as the strategy behind it.

As I was writing the blog entry “5 Inspiring Action Verbs That Can Change Your Life” and made a reference to Tony Robbins, I happened to take a peak at Anthony Robbins’  Twitter status and noticed he promoted a video that he had seen months ago, got a chuckle from, and had to watch again.  Here it is…

It’s so true what Louis CK says in his appearance on the Conan O’Brien’s show.  Life is simply amazing and yet we are unhappy… Marketing has ALOT to do with Motivation!  Read On:

We are living in interesting times. When I grew up the news spread via TV, Radio, and the Newspaper.  Nowadays a couple clicks and the entire world knows.   The Iranian Election is a great example, it has been the talk on Twitter and other Social Mediums for a while now and the internet and modern communication can be attributed to broadcasting the news and beyond, our responses.  While Knowledge was power at one point, it appears that communication and social media are power these days!
