Canadian, Please! (Behind the Scenes)
Earlier in the week I posted the clever, funny, and sexy Viral Marketing Video “Canadian, Please!“. I can’t seem to get it out of my head. Exactly the response you want from a Viral Marketing Campaign. Job well done!
Here is the behind the scenes video as well as the published version:
Canadian, Please
Here is a clever, funny, and sexy Viral Marketing campaign that seems to be taking on some momentum. Plenty of YouTube views, a 1st page positioning on bing.com, MSN advertising, and lots of Google Search Results for the word Canadian Please.
TGIF – The 50 Most Watched You Tube Videos
The New Year is approaching and in typical New Year’s fashion there are alot of countdowns on Radio, TV, and of course the Internet. Perhaps it’s time to see about incorporating some type of year-end countdown in your Marketing? What depends entirely on the type of business you’re in.
Here is a funny you tube compilations, be sure to scroll down for today’s marketing tip!
When it comes to countdowns you’ll want to think of something clever that just makes sense. For example, if you’re in the Laser Rejuvenation Business, how about the Top 10 Make Overs with before and after pictures.
TGIF – It will for that one!
Today I have a story to share…
A small boy was walking along a beach at low tide, where countless thousands of small sea creatures, having been washed up, were stranded and doomed to perish. A man watched as the boy picked up individual creatures and took them back into the water.
“I can see you’re being very kind,” said the watching man, “But there must be a million of them; it can’t possibly make any difference.”
Returning from the water’s edge, the boy said, “It will for that one.”
Same goes for your Marketing Efforts. One step at a time. It makes a difference!
TGIF – Funny Mercedes Commercial
TGIF, enjoy your Friday with this funny Mercedes commercial. Sex has and will continue to sell. And big companies will continue to spend huge advertising dollars for creativity. Funny Yes. Effective? Unlikely. Don’t get tempted to try this type of fluffly ad for your small business. You’ll want to stick to keeping it real and rather than spending lots of dollars on something fluffy and creative, focus on delivering a powerful marketing message that delivers what marketing should, Results!
The Gorilla Story

- Image via Wikipedia
This TGIF Marketing Moment I’m going to share a story with you about negotiating and clear communications.
A zoo had among its animals a female gorilla, whose mood was becoming increasingly difficult. The vet concluded that she was on heat and that a mate should be found. The vet contacted some other nearby zoos to find a partner for the broody female, but to no avail. The female gorilla’s behavior continued to worsen, but the vet noticed that she grew calmer, and strangely responsive, whenever a particularly well-built and none-too-handsome keeper entered the enclosure. Being an unprincipled and adventurous fellow, the vet put an outrageous proposition to the keeper: For a fee of five hundred dollars would the keeper consider spending a little ‘quality time’ with the gorilla, purely in the interests of research of course?….
TGIF – The Unexpected Experience
Here is a funny commercial that gets a good chuckle but that’s about all. It’s unfortunate that there are so many bad commercials out there, worse yet, even more bad marketing material is out there from wanna be marketers that think creativity is what sells.
Fluffy pictures and funny videos are great when you work in Hollywood or are looking to win an award or impress someone with your creative skills. What matters, especially in small business, is that you get results! You don’t want someone to go “Wow that’s a cool {fill in the blank}”. (Logo, Campaign, Flyer, etc). You want your target market to go “Wow that’s a {product / service} that I need.” “Tell me more about {fill in the blank}”. Watch this video and tell me honestly whether you’d make your buying decision based on this commercial…
